PENNY CLAIRE HOLLAND is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and Whidbey Allied Artists. She writes and paints, mostly with watercolor, on an island off the coast of Washington where she lives with her husband and their two dogs. Although she has had other non-fiction and educational books published, this is her first picture book. She has been writing for children since 1979 when she first got her start by writing a story about adoption for her son Chris.
