About the Author

Joe Getsinger took to reading many of Jack Kirby's cartoon work of the 50s and 60s. His cousin Danny always had a stash of comics in his closet when he went to visit him at his summer home in Brigantine, New Jersey. This also piqued his interest in art and cartooning in his early years of schooling in Camden, New Jersey. He did some cartooning in high school but leaned more towards the graphic arts. This was put on hold when he served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war. Joe loved working on and restoring antique cars, his first being a stock 1931 Ford Coupe and later a 1958 Chevrolet Delray. His career in law enforcement lasted over 26 years, he married his wife Ginny and raised three boys and a daughter. During that time, he created and published over 250 limited edition prints from the art he created which included golf, waterfowl, firefighter, law enforcement and seascapes. He loved collecting action figures and comics with his children and restoring stained glass and antiques. When he came upon a collection of antique cartoon printing plates a friend had obtained, he researched them an found they were a treasure trove of cartoons created under pen names of cartoonists who became more famous in later years. He wanted to share his discovery of these almost never seen cartoons by the real cartoonists, so he set out to publish them.
