The city of Lapyx hangs suspended off deep chasms on a planet where the sun burns ruthlessly and monsters lurk in fog forests. The story passed down is that years ago, life on Earth became impossible. On the way to a new home, the Icarus crash-landed and the colonists aboard were stranded because electromagnetic radiation wiped out all communications systems. Simon always believed the tale that the captains of the Icarus were heroes and saved humanity. But when his brother, Isaac, dies in what should have been a routine test flight, Simon starts to question the so-called truths he has been told his whole life. He discovers that the sabotage wreaking havoc on the city is not due to a fringe group, but from the top levels of the city's leadership. The city's head of security, Nathaniel Tal retaliates, forcing Simon to run for his life, straight into the deadly forest.
