The inside story of how accusations of anti-Semitism in the Labour Party resulted in a Labour MP losing his seat.
Containing explosive revelations of what really went on at the heart of the Labour Party during those turbulent years, this book considers what happens when false allegations turn into a political witch-hunt not too dissimilar to McCarthyism in the 1950s.
Ably demonstrating that the facts were continually misreported by a media clique, and rarely challenged by supposed allies, Garratt's words and simple, yet meticulous piecing together of events expose a shameful period in British political history; one which most people shut their eyes to or meekly surrendered and acquiesced when met with a dominant 'truth'.

'Chris Williamson was driven out of mainstream politics by an
unprecedented campaign conducted by the media and amplified by many
leading figures in the Labour Party; a campaign based on smears and
lies. This book sets about telling the other side - the side of the
truth. A must read' Alexei Sayle 'A clear account of what happened
to Chris Williamson and the identifying of those responsible for
this shameful episode in Labour politics. We have many lessons to
learn if we are ever to have a party of the left which values truth
and honesty. At present that is a distant prospect' Ken Loach
'If you want to understand how accusations of anti-Semitism were
used to undermine the most radical political movement in the
history of the post-war labour movement, you have to read Labour,
the anti-Semitism Crisis & the Destroying of an MP. Chris
Williamson's removal from parliamentary politics is a lesson in
corruption, weakness and courage that we all need to learn from.'
