Interesting period in modern history. Good plot, but not quite up to Pillars of the Earth - but what could be? Enjoyed reading it.

"Night Over Water" is fairly standard Follett fare, in that it is entertaining, gripping, and a lot like his other thrillers. This novel follows a group of characters desperate to flee pre-World War 2 Britain for the perceived safety of the United States. Of course, things are never that simple in a Follett book, as all sorts of intrigue must take place first, jeopardising the flight and the lives of the passengers. A good, solid read.
