A biography of the influential New Zealand social campaigner Rutherford Waddell. From his base as a Presbyterian minister in Dunedin, Rutherford Waddell immersed himself in all manner of causes, most notably in campaigning against the miserable plight of women in the clothing industry, which sparked major changes to industrial legislation. Although his views of subjects such as eugenics and prohibition find little contemporary favour, his campaigning on issues such as poverty and inequality remains relevant today.
