Quinlan is a cop on the verge of a nervous breakdown, separating from his wife who hates the fact that he is honest but poor - and suspicious of his partner Church, who is dishonest but rich. After a bout on the bottle, which gets him passed over for promotion and suspended from duty, the tension mounts as he and his partner come under the scrutiny of internal affairs.
