Following on from the tragic death of three of the villages children and with personal relationships and alliances growing ever more tangled, the second series of The Lakes revisits a community driven by guilt, suspicion and grief and besieged by emotional, sexual and domestic tensions.
Danny (John Simm) struggles to control his gambling and provided for his new wife Emma (Emma Cunniffe) and baby, whilst enduring the hostility of the Quinlan family home. Despite his good intentions, working in the hotel he becomes enmeshed in the defence of his one-time antagonist, Lucy (Kaye Wragg) in the wake of a shocking incident of sexual violence.
But Danny is not the only one who has trouble staying on the straight and narrow: murder, lust and betrayal permeate lives throughout the village.
