About the Author

The book was motivated by SCAT (Social Change Assistance Trust), a NGO that funds local development agencies in the rural areas, on the basis that there are no books that cover the history of rural South Africa over the last 20 years. Margie Orford is an experienced writer and editor who have undertaken difficult projects such as the recently published Women Writing in South Africa (Feminist Press at the City University of New York) on which she worked as an editor.
