George Seber is a retired professor of statistics from the University of Auckland and a Fellow of the Royal Society of NZ. A counsellor of 17 years' practice.Author of 19 books on statistics and counselling.

Although I have read a number of such books in the past, I found Seber's take on it lucid, helpful and even surprising for its depth. It has two particular advantages that appealed to me.
